Biovolt Project
Galápagos Island
This is a joint project with the Government of Ecuador, the Ministry of Energy, and the Galápagos Island Electric Company to replace the first mineral-oil-insulated transformers with Biovolt vegetable oil.
It is important to note that the first installed equipment was donated by MGTRAFOS.
This was the world’s first eco-friendly project on fossil-free islands, named by the Ecuadorian government as “Zero Fossil Fuel in Galápagos by 2020.”
It is worth noting that the Galápagos Islands have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
